Inside the HyperSport powertrain: 2.0-liter turbo, 350 bhp, 3MO sequential
RLM Racing built the HyperSport's Mazda MZR-based 2.0-liter turbo four for durability, with a 3MO six-speed sequential behind it.

Revolution has released details of the HyperSport's engine and gearbox. The theme is durability and drivability, with less emphasis on peak numbers.
Engine
- Mid-mounted 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four
- Based on the Mazda MZR architecture, re-engineered to motorsport spec
- 350 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque, for 515 bhp/tonne
- Fully forged rotating assembly with competition pistons and H-beam rods, precision balanced
- Race cam profiles and an uprated valvetrain for sustained high rpm
- Motorsport turbocharger matched for throttle response and linear delivery
- Tial external wastegate for repeatable boost control
The engine was developed with RLM Racing of Rutland, UK, the same company that built the 500 bhp supercharged V6 in the 500 EVO. RLM's brief was a broad, usable torque curve and predictable behavior that suits the car's light composite chassis and low-drag aero.
Gearbox
Drive goes to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential from 3MO, a supplier to FIA Formula 3. The gearbox is built to the same specification as the one in the more powerful 500SC. The engine and transmission are both stressed chassis members, and the rear suspension mounts directly to the gearbox's custom casing.
Why it matters to owners
Revolution says the package targets race teams and driving-experience companies that need minimal downtime and maximum track time. For a private owner, that means a spec chosen for service life as well as lap time.
Figures updated to Revolution's final specification, October 2026.
